The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on Tuesday wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi, appealing to posthumously award Padma Shri to late actor Satish Shah for his contribution to Indian cinema and TV. FWICE said that it will be a matter of pride for the entire industry to honor an artist like Satish Shah.
FWICE wrote in its letter, “We, with folded hands and with full respect, request the Prime Minister to confer the Padma Shri award on late Satish Shah. He was one of the most loved and talented artistes of the country.”

FWICE is an employee union of the Indian film and television industry.
The organization further wrote, “Satish Shah was an artist who brought smiles on the faces of crores of people with his acting. His shows ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, films ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and many other projects are still alive in the hearts of people.”

In the year 2015, Satish Shah was also made a member of the Society of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
FWICE said awarding him the Padma Shri would be a true tribute to his work and life. The letter also read, “His demise leaves a void in the hearts of everyone who knew him or was associated with his work. Honoring him with the Padma Shri would be a tribute not just to an artist, but to a person who made India laugh for four decades and inspired many new artists.”
