A case of kidnapping of three Indian tourists and demanding ransom of Rs 1.20 crore from their families has come to light in Thailand. According to local media reports, the police have arrested five Indian citizens in this case. During interrogation, the accused told that they were instructed by a Pakistani citizen to carry out this kidnapping. The victims have been identified as Mohit (23), Ashish (24) and Himanshu (20). The accused had lured him to Pattaya city of Thailand by luring him with a cheap 7-day tour package. After reaching there, they were held hostage in a house and a ransom of Rs 40 lakh each, i.e. a total of Rs 1.20 crore, was demanded from their families in exchange for all three. He was the one who had hatched the entire conspiracy of kidnapping. It was planned to take the ransom amount through cryptocurrency. In return, the accused were promised cash, valuables and airline tickets to fly out of Thailand. The victims told the police that they were kept hungry for several days. His hands and legs were tied and he was hanged upside down and beaten brutally. The accused applied red spray paint on the body to make it look like blood. Through these videos, pressure was being created on the families to pay ransom. The relatives of the victims contacted the Indian Embassy. There all three victims were found tied in separate rooms. There was tape on his mouth and injury marks on his body. Police have recovered tape, wooden stick and red spray paint from the spot. Earlier also a tourist had been kidnapped. The rescued victims told the police that even before their arrival, an Indian had been held hostage in the same house. He was released when his family paid a ransom of around Rs 30 lakh. The police are now searching for the mastermind of the case and other Pakistani suspects. Police said that the accused were promised cash, valuables and airline tickets to fly out of Thailand in return for this work.
