Kannada actress Rishika Singh has raised questions on the portrayal of women and bold scenes in the trailer of Yash’s upcoming film Toxic. He said that women were not shown in a respectable manner in the trailer. He warned the film’s lead actor Yash that if women were not respected, he would be thrown out of Karnataka. In a video shared on social media, Rishika expressed her disappointment over the scene shown in the trailer of Toxic. While talking to Yash, he asked why he decided to be a part of such scenes in which women were not shown with respect. Rishika also said that Yash is a husband and father. She said, “I want Kannada cinema to grow and reach the international audience. I am happy that a big film like Toxic is being made in Kannada and Bollywood actresses are also working in it. But I did not like the way women were shown in the trailer.” He questioned whether the ego of the men was given excessive importance in the film, while the female characters were not given equal importance. Questioning the roles of five actresses including Kiara, Rishika said that there are many prominent female actors in Toxic. He questioned whether these women were shown in a good or respectable manner in the trailer. He asked, “There are five female actors in the film. Is even one of them portrayed in a beautiful or praiseworthy manner?” Why was Kiara brought from Bollywood and shown like this – Rishika Rishika also mentioned the dialogue in the trailer in which a woman is asked her “rate”. He questioned the inclusion of this line in the film and specifically took the name of Kiara Advani, who plays the character of Nadia in the film. He asked, “Why was Kiara Advani brought from Bollywood and shown like this?” Rishika also asked Yash’s fans to think how they would have reacted if a similar statement was made about his wives working in any other film industry. He said that his criticism is not against director Geetu Mohandas. According to Rishika, Geetu has her own creative thinking and she may not understand “our” culture in the same way. However, Rishika questioned why Yash approved such a portrayal despite being from Karnataka. He directly told Yash that men should have dignity and women should be treated with respect. Rishika said – If women are not respected, we will vacate Karnataka. At the end of the video, Rishika said that if women are not respected, people can be asked to leave Karnataka. “If women are not respected, we will get you evacuated from Karnataka,” he said. Kiara said – Every female character in the film is different. Kiara Advani, who is playing the character of Nadia in Toxic, has already rejected the claims that female characters have been kept behind in the film. According to Kiara, every female character in the film has her own distinct role and personality. “Each woman brings her own energy and identity. I think the audience will enjoy seeing such different female characters in the same cinematic universe,” she said in an interview with Femina.
