Police have arrested the main accused Chandni Qureshi and her father Islam in the case of religious conversion of B-Pharma graduate Ayush Malik, resident of Mohalla Dayanand Nagar, Shamli. Ayush’s father Devraj Malik lodged a complaint that his son was forced to convert to Islam through systematic blackmail. After meeting in the hospital in the year 2018, Chandni took Ayush under her influence and took him to Delhi in 2023 and named him Mohammad Ali. Police have registered a case against 9 named and 2 unidentified persons including Chandni’s family members and clerics in this case.

Love web woven in the name of physiotherapy

Ayush’s father Shamli He is a big drug dealer and his assets are worth more than Rs 50 crore. In the year 2018, Ayush had a fracture in his leg, when he met physiotherapist and gym trainer Chandni Qureshi in the hospital. Chandni’s brother Aash Mohammad worked at Ayush’s medical store, who had complete information about their assets. On the pretext of physiotherapy, Chandni grew close to Ayush and trapped him. After this Ayush started going to the same gym where Chandni was the trainer.

‘Brainwashed’ by Pakistani Maulana’s video

According to the police investigation and complaint, Chandni had completely brainwashed Ayush. She used to inspire Ayush to watch videos of Maulana Israr Ahmed of Pakistan. Ayush has now started considering himself a staunch Muslim. He offers namaz five times a day and has grown a long beard. In the year 2023, the accused took her to Delhi, where she allegedly got converted and married. However, the police have not yet received any official document related to the marriage.

Conspiracy to grab property worth Rs 50 crore

Police claim that this conversion was not just a religious one, but a conspiracy hatched entirely for financial gain. The accused had their eyes on Ayush’s showroom worth Rs 20 crore and other valuable properties of Shamli. The father alleges that he was being forced to part with property worth crores by showing him a 4-year old fake marriage certificate and was threatened with death if he protested. At present Ayush is with his family and he is being introduced to Hindu religious gurus.

SIT formed, search for clerics continues

Shamli SP Abhishek Singh (N.P. Singh) said that SIT and LIU teams have been formed to investigate the matter in depth. Police have registered a case under serious sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act. After the arrest of Chandni and her father, now the police is searching for other absconding family members and unknown clerics of Delhi who played a role in this alleged conversion.
