Florentino Perez was re-elected as the President of Real Madrid following the election held on Sunday, as the 79-year-old pipped contestant Enrique Riquelme in the first real election in nearly two decades.

With Perez’s win, a swathe of changes are set to be carried out at Los Blancos, who look to address their dry-spell after going trophy less for two years on the bounce.

The biggest change of course, the return of the special one to the helm of the side, as Inter full-back Denzel Dumfries and Liverpool stopper Ibrahima Konate.

Madrid are touted to rope in Mourinho for a second spell incharge of the club following Perez’s re-election campaign.

Mourinho, who has won titles with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Man United and Roma, most recently coached Benfica, the club where he began his managerial career in 2000. He helped the Portuguese side finish third in the league in a season that was notable for being unbeaten.

The 63-year-old, who previously managed Madrid from 2010 to 2013, is expected to be officially unveiled after the Presidential elections. The decorated manager, whose first stint in the Spanish capital was explosive, is said to have agreed a deal that will keep him at the helm of Los Blancos for three years.

Benfica confirmed that the Spanish heavyweights would pay them a compensation of 15 million Euros if Mourinho is to make his switch back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid are also reportedly said to have completed deals to rope in Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries and Frenchman Ibrahima Konate as the Capital City side looks to strengthen their unit in the upcoming season, after having to watch arch-rivals Barcelona flourish under the tutelage of German gaffer Hansi Flick, as they clinched back-to-back league titles.
