Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar said on Wednesday that the character of Sita in Ramayana is much bigger than Lord Ram.

He was speaking after inaugurating the fifth edition of ‘Together We Grow International Women Entrepreneurship Day’ organized by the Ubuntu Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs Association in Bengaluru.

Shivakumar appealed to women entrepreneurs to play a leadership role in the development of the state. He said- Women create. He should take over the leadership till Parliament. The government will provide full support.

Women’s leadership necessary from Gram Panchayat to Parliament

Shivkumar said that women’s leadership is necessary from Gram Panchayats to Parliament. He said that the state government is committed to empowering women.

She said, “When women’s creativity, ability and tenacity are given access to capital, technology and markets, there are no limits to what they can create. It is the responsibility of the government to create an environment in which their potential can flourish.”

Mention of five guarantee schemes

CM said that he has faith in the strength of youth and women. He told that the Congress government has started five guarantee schemes. These include Shakti, Griha Lakshmi, Griha Jyoti, Anna Bhagya and Yuva Nidhi.

“Under the Griha Lakshmi scheme, 1.22 crore women of the state get Rs 2,000 every month. This has helped them support their families,” he said.

Example of Sonia Gandhi and women of Mahabharata

Shivkumar described women as the “eyes” of the family in Indian culture. He praised the women entrepreneurs facing financial challenges while running their businesses and assured them of full support from the government.

Giving the example of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, he said that Sonia Gandhi faced shocks like the death of her mother-in-law and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the death of her husband and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Even after this he went ahead and led the party.

Giving the example of Draupadi and Kunti of Mahabharata, Shivkumar said that women have a lot of talent and potential. He appealed to women to take up leadership roles.

There is not a single woman minister in Karnataka government

There are a total of 33 ministers in the Karnataka government, including the CM and Deputy CM. But not a single woman minister is included in this. On August 3, 2026, DK Shivakumar had inducted 20 new ministers. But even in this expansion no woman got a place.
