Veteran actress Asha Parekh recently revealed that she was suggested to wear a revealing costume for a dance number in a film, which she opposed.
It is noteworthy that the debate is going on regarding the presentation of Janhvi Kapoor in the film ‘Peddi’. Amidst allegations of objectification of Janhvi’s character in the film through certain camera angles and close-up shots, Asha Parekh and Jaya Bachchan shared their experiences regarding the presentation of women in the film industry.
In an interview given to ‘Deccan Chronicle’, Asha Parekh said, “I remember, once a director asked me to wear a very revealing dress for a dance number. I looked into his eyes and asked, ‘Would you like it if your daughter wears this dress?’ After this the dress was quietly removed.”

In the interview, Asha Parekh did not reveal the name of the film and director.
Asha Parekh further said, “Today’s heroines are very beautiful. There is no need for them to show themselves like this. See, Sanjay Leela Bhansali presents his heroines so beautifully and elegantly. The actresses in his films look very beautiful. But some other directors show the same actresses in a different way and take advantage of them.”
A director had objectified Jaya
At the same time, Jaya Bachchan said that no one tried to cross the limits with her. He told that he was objectified only once by a director, after which he never worked with that filmmaker again.

Jaya Bachchan also did not reveal the name of the director in the interview.
At the same time, Kareena said, “Looking attractive on screen does not mean wearing short or revealing clothes. It is also not necessary to show an actress only through her body.”
It is noteworthy that some scenes of the recently released film ‘Peddi’ were criticized on social media, after which director Buchi Babu Sana apologized to the audience and the controversial scenes were removed.
