A bus carrying Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad met with an accident in Saudi Arabia on Monday. 42 people died in this. The dead included 20 women and 11 children.

According to local media, the bus collided with a diesel tanker, after which the bus caught fire.

Initial reports have claimed that most of the dead are Indians. Most of these passengers are from Hyderabad. The Telangana government immediately took action on the incident and said that it is in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.

In a statement issued by the state government, it was said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials present in Delhi to maintain close coordination with the embassy and help in identification of the victims and other formalities.

Indian Embassy released helpline number The Indian Embassy in Jeddah has issued a helpline. “In view of the tragic bus accident involving Indian Umrah pilgrims near Madinah, Saudi Arabia, a 24×7 control room has been set up at the Consulate General of India, Jeddah. The helpline’s contact details are 8002440003,” the embassy said.

After the incident, the Telangana government has set up a control room in the secretariat, so that relatives can get information about their relatives. Family members can contact on these numbers: 79979-59754 and 99129-19545.

Owaisi said – contacting the embassy to gather information

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed grief over the bus accident of Indian Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. Speaking to news agency ANI over phone, Owaisi said that he has contacted two travel agencies in Hyderabad and shared the information of the passengers with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.

He also spoke to Abu Maithon George, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Indian Embassy in Riyadh. George told them that information was being collected from local authorities and an update would be given soon.

Owaisi said-

“I appeal to the central government, especially External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, to bring the bodies to India and provide necessary medical treatment to the injured.” ,
