There were violent protests against the government during the municipal elections on Saturday in Tabilisi, the capital of Georgia. Masked protesters tried to break the security barrier near Rashtrapati Bhavan. The protesters set chairs on fire and built barricades on the streets.

Police used water splashes, pepper sprays and tear gas to disperse the protesters.

Georgia is the eastern European country, which is located between Russia and Türkiye. This has been in crisis since the ruling Georgian Dream Party’s victory in last year’s parliamentary elections. Opposition parties say that there was a fraud in that election.

The government has also stopped negotiations to join the European Union (EU). On Saturday, thousands of protesters gathered at Tabilisi’s Freedom Square and Rustveli Avenue, many of which were waving the flags of Georgia, EU and Ukraine.

He accused the Georgian Dream Party of dictatorship and pro -Russia. Some opposition leaders demanded the removal of the government. The protesters also demanded the arrest of 6 leaders of the ruling party and asked to respect the wishes of the public.
