1. China maintains supply of rare earth minerals

4. Create an ‘AI hotline’ with China, so that it does not go unchecked
- The US has recommended creating an ‘AI hotline’ with China. If any such incident occurs during AI testing and development, which poses a threat to national security, then these countries will inform each other by issuing a notification.
- Recently, many senior employees working on AI development in companies like Anthropic and OpenAI resigned. His argument was that AI development is going unchecked, which is threatening humanity. Its speed should be slowed down.
- On September 20, US Finance Minister Scott Besant and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng discussed this. However, China has not given confirmation of accepting America’s recommendation.
According to Scott Kennedy, an expert on Chinese business at the American think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies, ‘The Trump administration hoped that China would bow down to the unilateral heavy pressure of tariffs. - Jinping’s Communist Party considers Taiwan a part of China under the ‘One China Policy’, but Taiwan considers itself an independent country. America does not have any diplomatic relations with Taiwan, but it has been selling modern weapons to Taiwan for its defense.
- Before meeting Xi in May, Trump had postponed a $14 billion arms deal with Taiwan. Xi wants to take this deal further. He wants Trump to say that America opposes Taiwan’s independence.
- According to Wu Xinbo, director of American Studies at China’s Fudan University, ‘If America takes care of China’s concerns on the issue of Taiwan, then China will also take care of America on issues like purchasing agricultural products from America and law enforcement.’
