Due to the violence in July, passports of 97 people including Sheikh Hasina have been cancelled.
Bangladesh’s Yunus government on Tuesday canceled the passports of 97 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, due to the violence in July. According to Bangladesh news agency BSS, out of these, 22 passports are of people who were forcibly disappeared, while passports of 75 people, including Sheikh Hasina, were canceled due to their involvement in the murders that took place in July.
Shortly after Sheikh Hasina’s passport was canceled, the Indian government extended her visa. It has become clear that India will not deport Hasina to Bangladesh.
Earlier on January 6, the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh had issued an arrest warrant against him. The tribunal has directed Hasina to appear before her by February 12. The interim government of Bangladesh has also appealed to India to deport Hasina.

Violent protests against Sheikh Hasina started in Bangladesh after the reservation limit was increased last year. A photo of the demonstration in July.
Willing to come to India and interrogate Hasina
Major General Fazlur Rahman, head of the Independent Inquiry Commission of Bangladesh, says that if India does not deport Sheikh Hasina, the commission is ready to come to India and interrogate her.
In fact, after the coup on August 5, Sheikh Hasina had fled and taken refuge in India. He has been here ever since. The Yunus government formed after the coup in Bangladesh has registered more than 225 cases against Hasina, ranging from murder, kidnapping to treason.

Sheikh Hasina had reached Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad from Dhaka along with her sister on the evening of 5 August.
What is the extradition agreement between India and Bangladesh?
It is the year 2013. People from India’s North-East militant group were hiding in Bangladesh. The government wanted to stop them from taking refuge in Bangladesh. At the same time, people of Bangladesh’s banned organization Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen were hiding in India. The two countries entered into an extradition agreement to deal with this problem.
Under this, both the countries can demand return of the fugitives taking shelter in each other’s places. However, there is a catch in this that India can refuse to extradite a person in politically related cases, but if serious cases like murder and kidnapping are registered against that person, then his extradition cannot be stopped.
Thanks to this agreement, Bangladesh handed over United Liberation Front of Assam leader Anup Chetia to India in 2015, according to the Dhaka Tribune. India has also sent back many fugitives from Bangladesh so far.
According to a 2016 amendment to the agreement, the country seeking extradition is not even required to provide evidence of a crime. For this, the warrant issued by the court is enough.

The movement against reservation had carried out a coup
Last year, on June 5, the High Court had implemented 30% quota system in jobs in Bangladesh, after which the students of universities in Dhaka were protesting. This reservation was being given to the families of freedom fighters.
When this reservation was abolished, students started demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Within no time, a large number of students and common people came out on the streets against the Prime Minister and his government.
Two months after this protest, on August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left Bangladesh and came to India. After this an interim government was established.
