An old bridge over the Indrayani river near Kundamal in Talegaon area of Pune suddenly collapsed due to heavy rains and strong flows, causing a major accident. The administration fears that about 20 to 25 people were swept away in the river in this accident. 5 people died in the accident. It is being told that this bridge was in a decaying situation for some time and was already closed for vehicles, but due to heavy rains and water level in the river, many people came on this bridge and were watching the views of the increased water level.
As soon as the incident was reported, the local police and district administration teams have started in relief and rescue operations. Search operation is being conducted in the river with the help of divers. There is a huge crowd at the scene and there is an atmosphere of panic among the people. The administration has appealed to the people not to be unnecessarily accumulated around the river and the situation is being closely monitored.
It is being told that this bridge was closed 2-3 months ago. Because the bridge was in a very shabby position. So far 6 people have been rescued. There are 15 ambulances at the scene. Police said that a bridge collapsed on the Indrayani river near Kundamal village under Pimpri-Chinchwad police station. There is a possibility of 20 to 25 people being trapped. 5 to 6 people have been rescued.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that many people are stranded in the accident. The NDRF team is going on the spot. I cannot confirm the number of casualties right now. Whatever work is necessary, the administration is doing it.
