The body of Devosmita Paul (49), assistant professor at Shivaji College, Delhi University, was found in her flat in Vasundhara Enclave in East Delhi on Thursday. She lived alone in the flat.

His sister told that his phone was not working since morning. When they found the flat locked from outside, they broke the lock and went inside and saw Devosmita lying dead.

On receiving the information, police, crime team and forensic experts reached the spot and started investigation. Police have registered a case of murder.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and several teams have been deployed to search for the accused. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.

Bomb blast threat on Delhi Mayor’s email, police investigation found nothing suspicious

A threatening message came on the official email ID of the Mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) on Thursday. The email claimed that there would be an explosion in Delhi and some surrounding areas.

As soon as the information was received, the police, bomb disposal squad and dog squad searched the entire building, common area and parking including the mayor’s office. However, no suspicious object was found during the investigation.

The technical team of the police is busy identifying the sender of the email and finding its source. In the initial investigation, it is being considered as an attempt to spread rumours.

Swaroop Biswas, brother of former West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas, has been arrested by Kolkata Police. His name had come up in the case registered at New Alipore police station on the complaint of a person named Simran Pal.

Police arrested him from Sahapur Colony area. A case has been registered against him under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Arms Act. This arrest has taken place at a time when Satadru Dutta, the chief organizer of Lionel Messi’s ‘GOAT India Tour-Kolkata Edition’, has also lodged an FIR against former Sports Minister Arup Biswas.

Dutta has alleged that he was pressurized to give a large number of complimentary tickets, accreditation cards and VIP passes during the Messi event held in Kolkata in December 2025. The police is investigating the entire matter.
