In the press conference after the match, Laxman said that Vaibhav’s talent was first revealed during the Vijayawada Quadrangular Series organized before the 2024 Under-19 World Cup. He said, ‘About two and a half years ago we saw Vaibhav closely for the first time. He was among the batsmen who scored the most runs for India-B in the Quadrangular Series held in Vijayawada. It was then that we realized that this player could prove to be special for Indian cricket in the future.
Emphasis is also being given on mental preparation
VVS Laxman told that after this Vaibhav continuously remained a part of BCCI Center of Excellence (COE) camps. Even at the Under-19 level, he scored runs continuously and proved himself at every level. Laxman said that the support staff of the Indian team has been working equally not only on Vaibhav’s game but also on his personality and mental preparation.
He said, ‘We not only know the player, but also understand Vaibhav very well as a human being. We know in which circumstances he can perform his best. Our effort is always to ensure that he is completely mentally prepared before the match.
According to the former Indian batsman, Vaibhav’s thinking and ability to understand the match has improved tremendously in the last six months. VVS Laxman said, ‘His maturity, ability to read the game and match awareness have increased tremendously in the last six months. This is the reason why he is playing fearlessly even in pressure matches and is proving himself against big players.
