During the promotion of the film ‘Governor: The Silent Savior’, actor Manoj Bajpayee gave a balanced answer to a question related to politics and leadership. In an interview given to Dainik Bhaskar, when he was asked what advice he would give to the Prime Minister, he said that he does not consider himself in a position to give any advice to the Prime Minister. Manoj Bajpayee said, “What advice will I give to the Prime Minister? I am not in that position. I do not get involved in all these matters.” It was clear that he preferred to maintain distance from political debates and comments. During the conversation, Manoj said that every person has his own area of responsibility and expertise. He believes that it is the job of experts in the same field to take decisions on issues like economic crisis, policy decisions and running the country. In the interview, when asked questions on the economic crisis of 1991 and the current global situation, Manoj said that in such matters the role of a common man or an artist is limited. It is the job of experts and policy makers to manage the economy and bring it out of the crisis. Manoj said, “You know how to fulfill the responsibility of a journalist, I know how to fulfill the responsibility of an actor. Apart from this, we can only read and try to understand what is happening in the country and the world.” He said that in difficult times, common people face the situation by reducing expenses and being financially alert. According to him, many people are avoiding big expenses in view of future uncertainties and are trying to keep their savings safe. Manoj Bajpayee believes that expertise in any field should be respected. Therefore he avoids publicly advising on political or economic decisions. He says that he has always focused on his work and that is his biggest responsibility. On the work front, Manoj Bajpayee will soon be seen in the film ‘Governor: The Silent Savior’. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1991 economic crisis and shows the challenges faced by an RBI governor.
