The second round of talks took place on Friday between the Cockroach Janata Party, which is agitating against irregularities in the NEET paper leak, and the government. After the meeting, Union Minister JP Nadda said that CJP has made 3 demands and 5 suggestions for examination reform. The government is discussing these.
The third round of meeting will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3.30 pm. In which the government will present its stand on the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. CJP has told the government that there will be no compromise on the demand for resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
Spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka claimed that the government has given in-principle consent to the two demands of compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the students who committed suicide and ending the cases registered against the protesters.
However, the government has not confirmed this. At the same time, according to government sources, ‘Dharmendra Pradhan will not resign, because leaving the post would be the easiest thing and it would be equivalent to running away from responsibility. We will get the job done.
Here, due to the protest, the Delhi government, on the advice of the police, has given instructions to close all liquor shops at 8 pm till the weekend. Even on Thursday, shops were closed prematurely without notice, due to which people had to return.
24th July: 7 big updates from Jantar Mantar to Parliament
- PM Modi released a video message at midnight, in which he announced to bring the bill related to paper leak first in the Cabinet and then in the Parliament.
- Sonam Wangchuk ended her fast after 26 days at midnight in the presence of Union ministers. JP Nadda gave him juice.
- The Cabinet approved amendments to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. It will be presented in Parliament on July 27.
- Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met representatives of the Cockroach Janata Party. Both assured to consider their demands.
- It was announced to create fast track courts in Delhi-MP and Maharashtra to investigate the paper leak case. Delhi Police is forming a special task force for the first time.
- NTA removed 47 officers. Legal action will be taken against some people. NTA will be completely reformed in the next 1 month.
- The Supreme Court agreed to hear on July 27 two petitions related to police brutality on protesters. CJI admitted that the matter is very serious.

Movement in more than 15 states, 450 detained
Protests took place in more than 15 states on Friday against the NEET paper leak and exam rigging. Rallies were taken out in 30 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Bhopal, Guwahati and Aizawl. There was a violent clash between protesters and security forces in Kolkata. 400 were detained in Mumbai and 56 in Patna. Till now 30 FIRs have been registered in the country.
Claim of removal of 47 officers from NAT, but only 25 representatives of the government here
News came on Friday evening that NTA has dismissed 47 of its officers. Criminal cases are also pending against some of them. However, the surprising thing is that according to the information given in the Parliament, out of 39 permanent posts created in NTA, only 24 have officers. 15 posts are vacant.
To ensure smooth functioning of the agency, 73 contract and 124 outsourced employees are deployed. The contract workers include consultants, software developers and young professionals. That means a total of 221 employees, out of which about 89% are not regular employees.
Whereas Minister of State for Education Sukant Majumdar had told in Rajya Sabha that to strengthen NTA, the government has created 16 new posts at the level of Director and Joint Director.

- Due to the protest, all liquor shops in the capital will be closed at 8 pm on Saturday-Sunday. Even on Thursday, liquor shops were closed early without any notice. Usually their closing time is 10 pm.
- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that 18 metro stations will remain closed from 7:30 am on July 25 till further orders. These include the area of PM House i.e. Lok Kalyan Marg, Janpath, Supreme Court, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk.
