On Wednesday, there was a clash between the two communities over a land dispute. After this, it spread to more than a dozen areas.
49 people have died in a land dispute between Shia and Sunni communities in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Apart from this, more than 200 people have been injured.
The root of this dispute is a 30-acre piece of land. There is a dispute between two tribes in Bushehra village of Kurram district over its ownership.
According to BBC report, this fight started between two families on Wednesday last week which soon spread between two clans. Now there is tension in the entire district due to this.
According to Pakistani TV channel Sama News, the Sunni community is getting the support of the Afghan tribe across the border, due to which they are gaining the upper hand.

A fight broke out between two families, which spread throughout the district
Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Meshood told local media that the fighting between the two communities has been going on for six days. He, along with the officials, has brokered a settlement between the two communities with the help of tribal elders Jirga and others, but there are still reports of firing in other parts of the district.
Local police officer Murtaza Hussain told Pakistani newspaper Dawn that this dispute between Sunni Midgi and Shia Malikhel communities started in 2007. There were incidents of violence even then. There was a dispute in July last year too, after which there was a fight between Shia and Sunni communities. Many people were killed in this.

The dispute ended last year, then started again
Last year, after the fighting between the two parties stopped, an agreement was reached between them. It was decided that the government will decide who owns the land. Both parties will have to follow the rules of the Land Commission which resolves land disputes.
After this the commission gave its decision and gave this land to the Shia community. But after a year the dispute started again. On Wednesday, when talks were going on regarding a land dispute, a person opened fire. After this a bloody conflict started between the two communities.
There are many disputes before the formation of Pakistan, they have not been resolved till now
According to the report of Samaa channel, currently there are eight major conflicts going on in Kurram. Most of these are from before the formation of Pakistan. All these matters are related to land.
Due to the lack of land reforms, this dispute is still continuing. Whenever a dispute starts, it turns from a tribal fight to a communal conflict.
