Rescue and search operations continued even three days after the floods in Nepal. People also went to see their destroyed homes.
After the massive flood that hit Nepal on August 26, the government on Saturday released pictures and details of the dead. So that their family members can recognize them. These pictures have been uploaded on the website of Nepal Police.
Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that DNA samples and other evidence related to identification will be preserved before burying the bodies which have not been identified. This will help in identifying dead bodies through DNA testing in future. The identified bodies are being handed over to their families.
So far 675 bodies have been recovered from Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Chitwan, Tanahun, Gorkha, Nawalparasi East and Nawalparasi West of Nepal. Apart from this, 7 dead bodies were found in Tibet. The dead bodies are being kept in airtight bags. According to the Government of India, 287 Indians and 128 people of Indian origin are still missing or uncontacted.
At the same time, 88 Indians have been rescued so far from flood affected areas. In the last two days, 598 Indians have reached Nepal safely from China, while about 900 Indians are still in China and in touch with the government.

Indian Embassy issued advisory regarding identification of dead bodies
India’s Embassy in Kathmandu has issued a press release regarding the identification of the bodies of those killed in Nepal. The Government of Nepal is releasing photographs and information about the unidentified dead, which can be viewed on an official link.
The embassy said it is working closely with local authorities, including Nepal Police, so that the bodies of Indian citizens can be handed over to their families after identification. The Embassy has said that further information in this regard will be shared in coordination with Nepalese authorities.
