A case of rape of a minor has come to light in a hotel in Wazirabad area of Delhi. The accused had befriended her through social media.
According to the police, both the accused and the minor are residents of Wazirabad area. The accused had called the minor to the hotel on Tuesday on the pretext of friendship.
After the incident, the minor returned home and told the whole story to the family. On the complaint of the family, the police have registered a case under sections of the POCSO Act.
After the family contacted the police, the minor was given medical treatment. The police also recorded his statement.
On the basis of the statement and medical examination, Wazirabad police registered a case against the accused. The accused is absconding since the incident.

Police are also investigating how the minor gained entry into the hotel. Investigators are looking at the hotel register, CCTV footage and other records.

According to NCRB, 1,553 POCSO cases were registered in Delhi in 2024. That means on an average more than 4 cases were reported every day. The report for 2025 has not been released yet.
