Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen has sought help from Home Minister Amit Shah on social media platform X. He said that his Indian residence permit had expired in July and the Home Ministry was not renewing it.
Taslima said that India is her second home and she is upset due to the permit not being renewed since July 22. She said that she would be grateful if the government would allow her to stay in India.
Bangladesh is currently facing a serious power struggle. The situation has been unstable since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power a few months ago.
The interim government led by Mohammad Yunus is currently facing the challenge of restoring democratic institutions.
