The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared the current Governor of Maharashtra CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA candidate for the post of Vice President. This decision was taken in the meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board, whose information was given by party president JP Nadda.

JP Nadda Told that all aspects were discussed in detail in the meeting and suggestions of all the members were taken, after which Radhakrishnan’s name was approved.

CP Radhakrishnan can also stay in the meeting in the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday. CP Radhakrishnan, who belongs to Tamil Nadu, has been counted among senior BJP leaders.

Radhakrishnan, born on 20 October 1957 in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Jana Sangh. CP Radhakrishnan caught the path of active politics as a volunteer from the RSS in the 70s.

After this, he became a member of the State Executive Committee of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and played an important role in organizational work. After working as a worker for a long time, he was also appointed the Secretary of Tamil Nadu BJP in 1994.

Table tennis champion

Talking about educational qualifications, he V.O. BBA (Business Administration Bachelor of Business) from Chidambaram College, Coimbatore. Radhakrishnan has been a table tennis champion in his college and a long distance runner. He also likes to play cricket and volleyball.

Visited 24 districts of Jharkhand as Governor

He is the Governor of Maharashtra since 31 July 2024. Earlier, he served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 18 February 2023 to 30 July 2024. Also, he also took over additional charge in Telangana and Puducherry.

On 18 February 2023, he was appointed the Governor of Jharkhand. In his first four months, he visited all 24 districts of Jharkhand and interacted with citizens and district officials.

MPsmake: Radhakrishnan was elected twice as an MP from Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency in 1998 and 1999. During his tenure as an MP, he served as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textile.

He has also been a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Sector (PSU) and the Consultative Committee on Finance. Apart from this, he has also been a member of the parliamentary special committee who investigated the stock exchange scam.

Role in organization:

From 2003 to 2006, he was the President of Tamil Nadu BJP. Apart from this, he has also been in charge of Kerala BJP. In 2004, Radhakrishnan addressed the United Nations General Assembly as a member of the parliamentary delegation. He was a member of the first parliamentary delegation who went to Taiwan.

During 2004-2007, as Tamil Nadu BJP President, he took a 93-day Rath Yatra on issues like connecting rivers, opposing terrorism and abolition of untouchability. He was also the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Textile Industry in Parliament and contributed to many committees related to financial and public undertakings.

Election on 9 September

Let us tell you that last month Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President, after which the Election Commission had decided the election schedule of the election of the post of Vice President some time ago. This election will be held on 9 September. According to the notification of the Election Commission, the last date for filing nomination is 21 August and the documents will be examined on 22 August.
