Director David Dhawan’s cinematic journey was celebrated at the ‘David Dhawan Film Festival’ held in Mumbai on Saturday. On this special occasion, many Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala attended the event.
Govinda’s son Yashvardhan Ahuja and daughter Tina Ahuja, who were the heroes of many of David Dhawan’s films, also reached the event, but Govinda himself was not seen.
It is noteworthy that in the 90s, the pair of Govinda and David Dhawan had given many superhit films like Coolie No. 1 and Hero No. 1. Govinda’s absence from the film festival once again gave rise to speculations about their relationship.
Govinda and filmmaker David Dhawan have worked together in 17 films.
During the year 2013-14, there were reports of distance in their relationship. In ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ in 2019, Govinda had said that after leaving politics, when he was looking for work again, he was sitting with his secretary David Dhawan. Govinda asked his secretary to keep the phone on speaker, so that he could hear what David thought about him. Then David Dhawan told the secretary, ‘Chichi (Govinda) has started asking too many questions now. After so many questions I don’t feel like working with him. Tell him to find some small work somewhere.
Govinda had emotionally said in the show that this statement of David Dhawan had touched his heart, after which he decided that he would never work with David again.
David Dhawan’s new film will be released on June 5
This film festival was organized by PVR INOX, in which David Dhawan’s superhit films ‘Partner’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Raja Babu’ and ‘Aankhen’ have been re-released in theatres. There was also discussion about his upcoming film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, which is going to be released on June 5.
Salman said- He picked up another song of mine During the event, Salman Khan jokingly took a dig at Varun Dhawan for recreating his film’s iconic song ‘Chunari Chunari’ in his upcoming film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. Varun started feeling shy on this statement of Salman. Now the videos of this conversation have surfaced.
Pointing towards Varun, Salman said, ‘He has picked up another song of mine.’ Hearing this from Salman, Varun Dhawan felt shy and started laughing. He folded his hands and said to Salman, ‘Brother, leave it.’
