Bangladesh preparing to buy 25 Boeing planes from America

Bangladesh currently has 14 Boeing planes. Bangladesh had also ordered 14 new Boeing aircraft in April 2026.

US Ambassador Sergio Gore had told on August 30 that a big deal had been made between Trump and Rahman regarding Boeing planes. Under this, Bangladesh is preparing to buy 25 Boeing aircraft.

Deal reached to get relief from American tariffs

Bangladesh’s Boeing purchase is not just a plan to expand its airline’s fleet. One of its major objectives is to reduce trade deficit with America and to get relief from American tariffs. For this reason, the issue of purchasing Boeing aircraft has also become linked to the trade relations of the two countries.

When America talked about imposing 37% tariff on Bangladeshi goods, Bangladesh started trying to buy more goods from America. During this time, the matter of purchasing 25 aircraft from Boeing came to light.

Later Bangladesh confirmed the deal for 14 Boeing aircraft. Its price is about 3.7 billion dollars. This includes 8 Boeing 787-10, 2 Boeing 787-9 and 4 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in November 2031.

America’s Export-Import Bank will also help in this deal. The bank will arrange the loan and the Government of Bangladesh will guarantee this loan.

Big Boeing deals made during Trump’s era

During Trump’s second term, apart from Bangladesh, at least 6 countries have announced to buy Boeing aircraft from America.

1. Saudi Arabia: During Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2025, Saudi company Avili buy 20 planes Gave a firm order. The company also kept the option to buy 10 more aircraft.

2. Qatar: Between Qatar Airways and Boeing during Trump’s visit to Qatar in May 2025 210 planes An agreement was reached till. The White House called it part of larger economic agreements between the two countries.

3. Indonesia: From America in July 2025 50 boeing aircraft Promised to buy. In return, America cut tariffs on Indonesian goods.

4. Japan: Under the US-Japan trade agreement in July 2025, Japan buy 100 planes Said about. These include Boeing aircraft.

5. China: In May 2026, Trump said that China 200 boeing aircraft Preparing to buy. Later Boeing also confirmed this.

6. South Korea: South Korea in August 2025 103 boeing aircraft Announced to buy. After this, Trump reduced the 25% tariff imposed on them to 10%.

Why does Trump insist on buying Boeing planes?

Boeing is the main company manufacturing large passenger aircraft in America. There are other aircraft companies, but they are mostly in the military or small aircraft business. In terms of large passenger aircraft, Boeing is the largest American company and its biggest competitor is Europe’s Airbus.

The biggest objective of Trump’s trade policy is that other countries should buy more and more goods from America. This can reduce America’s trade deficit and American companies can get big orders.

Boeing is very useful here, because a single passenger plane costs millions of dollars. If a country makes a deal to buy 50, 100 or 200 aircraft, then the purchase figure from America increases by billions of dollars in one go.

It is not only Boeing that benefits from this. Their construction provides employment to the factories, engineers and other workers there. For example, the White House valued South Korea’s deal for 103 Boeing planes at about $36.2 billion and said it would support about 1.35 lakh jobs in the US.
