There were massive protests in Germany on Saturday against the far-right party AfD’s new youth wing Generation Germany. The demonstration took place in the city of Giessen, near Frankfurt. About 25,000 people came out on the streets here.
A program was planned to create a youth wing of the AfD in Giessen. Protesters chanted outside the AfD venue. Also played whistles and drums. The police had deployed 5,000 soldiers to handle the situation.
Stone pelting also took place during this period. Many policemen were injured in this. Police had to use water cannon and pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
The biggest reason for opposition to the new youth wing of the AfD in Germany is the fear of the re-emergence of Nazi era-like thinking. The protesters say that they will not allow ideology like Hitler to become stronger in the country in any form.

Thousands of people protested against the AfD’s youth wing in the German city of Giessen.

Some people also came to the demonstration dressed as clowns. These people also had horns in their hands to play.

Police from other states were also called to stop the demonstration.

To stop the protesters, police used water cannon and threw water on the people.
AfD had to disband the old youth wing
The AfD created the new youth wing because its old youth organization Junge Alternative (JA) was declared extremist by the German intelligence agency. Due to this it had to be dissolved this year.
JA was accused of racist slogans and belonging to groups having Nazi ideology.
Germany’s domestic security agency had also described AfD as a right-wing extremist organization in May, after which the demand to ban it intensified. The party has challenged this decision in court.
German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz has opposed the idea of banning the AfD altogether. He says that you cannot ban 10 million AfD voters.
AFD is popular among youth
AFD is extremely popular among the youth. AFD leader Alice Weidl is known for her tough stance on the issue of migrants.
Vidal described the protesters opposing the youth wing as spreading anarchy. His agenda is to cut visas to immigrants and renegotiate relations with the European Union.
Another senior party leader, Tino Krupalla, said the new youth wing would learn from past mistakes.
