A minor football player was sexually assaulted in a packed stadium in Chandigarh. The sexual harasser is none other than a renowned football coach. Player says that there was a fight between two teams during the tournament. During this time the coach put his finger behind him. In this matter, the police registered a case after about one and a half months but have not arrested the accused coach yet. On behalf of the football player, a complaint has been sent to Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Secretary in this regard. In which he said that instead of arresting the accused, the police is threatening witnesses and complainants. Pressure is being put on them. He also alleged that he was not even being given a copy of the FIR. Not only this, they are being harassed by sending notices again and again. Police teams are creating an atmosphere of terror by coming directly inside the academy. One officer entered with a weapon. Due to which the children got scared. Know how the entire incident happened. In the complaint sent to the Governor, the lawyer of the 15 year old player said – In the last week of January this year, there was a football tournament in the sports stadium of Chandigarh. Where many teams from different schools and academies had come to participate. During this time, there was a dispute between two teams in a match. Both the teams got entangled with each other. During this, the minor player alleged that a finger was inserted in his behind. He was quite scared of that. Despite this, he told this to his senior and coach that this incident happened to him during a fight on the ground. After this, he first complained on POCSO e-box and e-Bal Nidan portal on January 28. The next day on January 29, a case was also registered on the online portal of Chandigarh Police. Despite this, it took almost one and a half months for the FIR to be registered and finally the case was registered on 12 March 2026. Statement recorded in Child Welfare: Police called the child to the police station to give statement, but the family refused. He said that it would not be appropriate to take such small children to the police station, especially in such a case. He said that statements of children should be taken at a safe and comfortable place. After this, on March 9, the statements of the children were taken in the Child Welfare Committee and their medical examination was also done. But here too the work was delayed and some things were not done properly, due to which the people who complained were not satisfied. Allegations of repeated notices and pressure The complainant alleged that the investigating officer kept sending notices repeatedly, but many times the correct information or sufficient time was not given in advance. They were asked to come to the police station or to a designated place within a very short time, which caused them a lot of trouble. Not only this, when the statements of the witnesses were being taken, attempts were made to change or influence what they said. The witnesses felt that their statements were not being recorded properly. For this reason some witnesses refused to give their statements. Dispute over entry into the academy premises: The family has also alleged that the police team entered the campus without permission. Tried to create pressure there. According to the complainant, it was not right to come without permission and behave in a strict manner, especially where children were present. He also raised objection regarding an incident of March 11. He said that a police officer entered the academy premises with a weapon, where minor children were also present at that time. Questions have been raised that such behavior in such a sensitive environment could be frightening to children. Copy of FIR not yet received, written complaint sent to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and other senior officials on 15 April and 28 April 2026. In this he told that the copy of the FIR of the case has not been given to him yet. It has been said in the complaint that he asked the police for a copy of the FIR several times. Both in writing and orally, but every time he did not get any reply. He says that taking a copy of the FIR is his legal right, and not giving it is against the rules. The complainants also said that the copy of the FIR is not being given, so this raises questions on the transparency of the investigation. They feel that such delay and not giving information is not following the correct procedure. Allegation of violation of POCSO rules: Their allegation is that during the investigation, the rules made in the POCSO Act for the safety and convenience of children were not followed properly. Under this law, it is necessary that minor children be talked to in a very sensitive and safe environment, so that they do not feel afraid or pressured. But, the children were repeatedly called to different places and attempts were made to take statements from them several times. This whole process was not easy or comfortable for him. This increased the mental pressure on the children and they became stressed. The Academy says that in such cases, special care should be taken of the mental condition of the children, but this did not happen here, due to which the victim children had to face trouble and stress again and again. The complainant backed down, the academy owner took charge. Meanwhile, a major change came to light in the case. The person who was initially the complainant in this case recused himself from the case on 23 April. He told that he was facing a lot of trouble due to constant travelling, lack of time and repeated contacts from the police, hence now he will not be able to get further involved in this case. After this the owner of the academy himself came forward and took the responsibility. He said that now he will represent the Academy in this matter. He also told that he was present at the time of the incident and has complete information about the case, hence will cooperate fully in the investigation. What did Chandigarh Police say in the matter? Inspector Shadilal, SHO of Chandigarh Police Station-39, said that an FIR has been registered in the matter under POCSO, a copy has been provided to the parents. He admitted that no one has been arrested yet in this case. At present the matter is being investigated.
