The accused committed these incidents of sexual crimes from 2002 to 2022.
A child care worker has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing, raping and abusing 60 girls in Australia. The accused is Ashley Paul Griffith, who committed these crimes while working in child care.
Griffith was on trial in Brisbane District Court on more than 300 counts. Griffith committed these crimes at training schools in Brisbane and Italy from 2003 to 2022. During the hearing on Monday, the district judge took more than 2 hours to read out the charges against Ashley.
Parents and family members of the victim children were also present in the courtroom during the hearing.
Griffith is the biggest pedophile in Australian history
Australian police arrested Griffith in 2022 for sexually abusing 60 girls. Last year, the police made the allegations against him public. 46-year-old Griffith is the biggest pedophile (one who commits sexual crimes against children) in Australia’s history.
Police had registered a case against Griffith in 1691 cases of crime against 91 children in 2023. Earlier this year, the number of charges was reduced to 307. After this, Griffith was produced in the district court.
These include 190 counts of indecent behaviour, 28 counts of rape, 67 counts of making child abuse material, four counts of making child abuse material outside Australia, 15 counts of repeated sexual intercourse with a child, and other counts.
Griffith is currently in police custody. He will be sentenced soon. It may take 2 days to pronounce the sentence.
The family members started crying after hearing the names of the children
According to Australia State Media ABC News, when the names of the victim children were taken during the hearing in the court room, their parents started crying. The father of a victim girl, while talking to ABC, described the incident that happened with his daughter as very horrific.
He said that when the police contacted him, he thought that the police were contacting him about some other incident that happened in the daycare center. But instead the police asked him to identify his child from a photo.
The child’s mother said that whenever we see another child going to child care, we remember the incident that happened with our child.
