Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh has expressed strong objection to the media reports in which Income Tax Department raids were being claimed on her premises.
Rakul has issued a long statement on social media calling these reports ‘false, misleading and malicious’. He has clarified that this investigation or raid of the Income Tax Department was not related to him.
Rakul Preet Singh targeted the media by sharing a note on her Instagram account. He wrote that the trend of sensationalizing news without checking the facts is sad.
She said that she wants to tell the truth to everyone that the raid being mentioned has nothing to do with her.
‘I am from Armed Forces background, have been paying taxes since the age of 20’
In her clarification, Rakul said that she comes from an Armed Forces background and she did not have any godfather in the film industry. She has made a name for herself through hard work and as a responsible citizen, she has been paying taxes regularly since the age of 20.
Rakul further wrote that she is not involved in any kind of illegal foreign transactions personally or through any production house. Along with this, she also clarified that she does not have any benami property anywhere in the country or abroad, nor does she accept such expensive gifts.
‘Don’t spoil anyone’s reputation under the pressure of earning’
Rejecting the allegations of irregularities in the name of film financing, Rakul appealed to the media organizations publishing false news to withdraw their reports and bring out the truth. He said running a media house may have its own commercial pressures, but it should not be at the cost of one’s dignity, livelihood and facts.

There was news of raids on 12 locations
Recent media reports had claimed that the Income Tax Department has raided 12 locations linked to Rakul Preet Singh and her father-in-law and famous film producer Vasu Bhagnani.
TV9 reported on September 28 that the action was taken in connection with an investigation into suspected financial irregularities and allegations of sending money abroad in the name of films.
However, there was no reaction from Vasu Bhagnani on the news of these raids.

Rakul’s brother’s name came up in the drugs case
Rakul Preet Singh’s family has been involved in legal disputes before. In December 2025, Mumbai Police started searching for Rakul’s brother Aman Preet Singh in the drugs case. The Drug Law Enforcement Force and West Zone Police arrested two drug smugglers and seized 43 grams of cocaine and 11.5 grams of MDMA from them. During investigation, it was alleged that Aman Preet Singh had purchased narcotics from those smugglers five times. Aman was also arrested in this case.
Aman Preet Singh is an actor of South Cinema. He also runs a talent company with actress Rakul Preet.
Rakul Preet’s name has also come up in the drugs case
Before this, Rakul’s name has also appeared in the drugs case. During the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, Rhea Chakraborty had taken the names of Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet during interrogation regarding the use of drugs. Rakul had also approached the High Court to stop media coverage of her name.
The second controversy related to Rakul was when in 2022, ED interrogated her in a money laundering case related to Tollywood drug case.

Actress Rakul Preet Singh is married to Vashu Bhagnani’s son and producer Jackky Bhagnani. These days Rakul is in the news for the film ‘Ramayana Part 1’ being made under the direction of Nitish Tiwari.

Vashu Bhagnani has produced many famous films like ‘Coolie No. 1’ (1995), ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ (1998), ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ and ‘Mission Raniganj’.
However, he has been in controversies for some time. He had a dispute with Ali Abbas Zafar, director of the film ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ (2024) regarding money transactions. Apart from this, he also had a copyright dispute with Tips Films regarding the rights of songs and scenes of the film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’.
