Sunny Deol starrer film ‘Bantwara 1947’ is facing tough competition from ‘Awarapan 2’ released on August 14 at the box office. According to Sacknilk, ‘Awarapan 2’ collected ₹33.75 crore nett on the second day of its release. With this, the total net earning of the film in India has reached ₹55.75 crore and the worldwide gross collection has reached ₹72.90 crore.
At the same time, ‘Partition 1947’ earned ₹13.50 crore nett on the second day. The film’s total net collection in India stands at ₹19.25 crore and worldwide gross collection at ₹26.41 crore.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, ‘Bantwara 1947’ stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol and Abhimanyu Singh in important roles along with Sunny Deol. The film is based on the backdrop of the Partition of India and is produced by Aamir Khan.
Sunny Deol has played the role of Sikandar Mirza in the film ‘Bantwara 1947’.
On the occasion of Independence Day, there was a jump in the film’s earnings on the second day. According to Sacknilk, the film earned ₹13.50 crore nett on the second day from 8,071 shows. The film’s gross collection in India is ₹22.91 crore and overseas gross is ₹3.50 crore.
Special screening held in Mumbai
Meanwhile, a special screening of ‘Partition 1947’ was organized in Mumbai on Saturday, August 15. Many Bollywood celebs including Sharad Shukla, Abhimanyu Singh, Makarand Deshpande and Paritosh Tripathi were seen at the screening of the film.
Imran’s old character in ‘Awarapan 2’
Emraan Hashmi has returned to his famous character of ‘Shivam Pandit’ in ‘Awarapan 2’ directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt. Shabana Azmi, Disha Patani and Suvinder Vicky also play important roles in the film.
‘Awarapan 2’ is the official sequel to Emraan Hashmi’s 2007 flop but cult classic film ‘Awarapan’.
