If you ask women in America about politics, many of them will say that they are not interested in politics at all. Yet, the strength of their vote within the Republican Party, starting in the 1970s, tells a different story. Nearly two-thirds of women voted in favor of Donald Trump in the 2024 election. They constitute 37% of the total voters of America and 68% of them consider themselves Christians. At the same time, more than 80% of white evangelical (a religious group) women voted for Trump. In contrast, nearly 80% of white women who did not identify themselves with any religion voted for Kamala Harris in 2024. Women’s politics in America cannot be limited to any one issue. Rather, their voting patterns reflect a kind of cultural attitudes. Women’s political choices are not determined only by the speeches of leaders. The books they read, the things they keep at home and the content they watch on a daily basis also have a deep impact on their thinking and voting. The common belief is that opposition to abortion motivates Christian women to vote for the Republican Party, but many surveys show that abortion numbers are far below issues like inflation, immigration, and crime. The strategy for getting women to vote is different… For a long time, flowery Bible study books and popular novels have been teaching women what to believe, how to live, and how to vote. Jamie Leigh Franklin, founder of media and lifestyle brand The Conservator, described the right-wing strategy – get women into culturally conservative viewpoints, then get “pro-America, pro-Western civilization, pro-family” votes. There is no need to talk about politics.
