The White House is now under question over the cases of death and disappearance of scientists associated with nuclear and space research in America. Since 2023, 10 such cases have come to light in which scientists or officials either went missing or died under suspicious circumstances.
Press Secretary Caroline Levitt was asked questions on these incidents for the first time at the White House briefing on Wednesday. In response, she said, “I have not yet spoken to the agencies concerned about this. I will do so and will respond to you.”
He further said, “If this is true, then it is certainly something that the government will consider worthy of investigation.”
There was anger among the people after his answer. Many people alleged that government agencies are not taking this pattern seriously or are trying to hide it.

Many scientists left their homes and did not return.
All cases of disappearance or death of scientists are said to be related to high-security research institutions of America. These include Los Alamos National Lab, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, and MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center. These institutes work on nuclear weapons, advanced propulsion and new energy technologies.
According to reports, many missing scientists suddenly left their homes on foot. He even left behind his phone, wallet and keys. The same pattern has been seen in many cases, which has further increased the suspicion.
The case of retired Air Force General William Neil McCasland has been in the news recently. He went missing from his New Mexico home on February 27. He was reported to have left with only a pistol and his wife called 911 saying he was trying to hide himself.

Monica Reza- missing
Monica was working in a project related to the Jet Propulsion Lab of the American space agency NASA. There she was the chief of a team looking after work on new materials and metals.

Monica was last seen hiking with two friends in the Mount Waterman area on the morning of June 22. No clue has been found about him till now.

William McCasland- missing
William is a retired US Air Force general. He has previously been the Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory. There he managed science and technology programs worth billions of dollars. This lab is one of the most important research units of the US Army, where work is done on new technology, weapon systems, space related technology and advanced science.
McCasland oversaw the funding for the project Monica Reza was working on. McCasland was last seen near his home in New Mexico on the morning of February 27, 2026.
Steven Garcia- missing
Garcia was a Kansas government contractor and was associated with the City National Security Campus, where non-nuclear parts of nuclear weapons are made. The people working here are considered very important from security point of view.
Garcia suddenly disappeared from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 28, 2025. The strangest thing was that he left home on foot. Left behind my phone, wallet, keys. He had only one pistol.
Since then there was no trace of him. The police have also not found any major clue yet. His case is in the news because he was involved in sensitive nuclear work and the manner of his disappearance is similar to some other cases.

78-year-old Chavez went out for a walk one day and then suddenly disappeared. The exact date of his disappearance is not known.
His family and friends say that his sudden disappearance is completely against his nature. That means he was not a person who would go anywhere without informing.
Melissa Cassias- missing
Melissa Cassias was also associated with Los Alamos National Lab, like Anthony Chavez. She was an administrative assistant there, but it is believed she may have had access to critical information.
54 year old Melissa suddenly disappeared from her home in New Mexico in 2025. On June 26, Cassias went to the laboratory with her husband, Mark Cassias. Both of them used to work together there. However, she herself returned home because she had forgotten her work badge. he decided to work from home
Cassias returned home and then left somewhere on foot. He had left his phone, wallet, keys and car at home. His phone was reset to factory settings, meaning the data on it was completely erased. Since then there has been no trace of him and his disappearance still remains a mystery.

Carl Grillmeyer – Murder
Karl Grillmayer was an astrophysicist (astrophysicist), that is, his job was to research things related to space, stars and galaxies. He was associated with America’s space agency NASA.
His work was related to NASA’s projects like NEOWISE and NEO Surveyor. These projects keep an eye on asteroids (bodies) and other things moving in space. The army also uses such systems to track satellites and missiles, hence their work is considered sensitive.

Michael David Hicks- death
Michael David Hicks was a scientist associated with NASA. His work was on space-related missions and he was especially associated with the DART project. This was the same mission in which it was tested whether if a dangerous asteroid came towards the Earth, could humans move it out of the way.
He died suddenly at the age of 59. The reason for his death was not clearly made public.
Frank Maywald- Death
Frank Maywald was a senior scientist associated with NASA. He used to work on space-related research projects and was especially working on such technology by which signs of life could be discovered on other planets in the future.
According to reports, he had worked on an important discovery which was considered too big for space missions. But he died in 2024, about 13 months after this achievement. He was about 61 years old and his death was described as sudden.
Frank’s cause of death was not made public.
Apart from this, the death of two scientists is also being considered suspicious.
Nuno Loureiro – Murder
Nuno Loureiro was a nuclear physicist and his work focused specifically on nuclear fusion. Fusion is the technology by which a lot of energy can be generated in the future.
According to reports, 47-year-old Loureiro was shot dead in his home. There are no details of the date on which this incident occurred.
According to police, he was murdered by a man named Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, who was a suspect in the mass shooting at Brown University. Later he committed suicide.
Some independent investigators believe that his work was so important that he could have been the target of a conspiracy, especially because nuclear fusion could completely transform the energy sector. But this is just doubt and speculation.

Jason Thomas- Death
Jason Thomas was a scientist at Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis. He suddenly went missing on 13 December 2025. After this, his wife lodged a missing report with the police on the morning of 13 December.
The police conducted a large-scale search operation to find him. In this, the help of Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council was taken, along with the use of dog squad and drones.
Then on March 17, 2026, his body was found in a lake in Massachusetts (America). This incident seems even more mysterious because he remained missing for a long time and was then found in this condition.
However, the local police said in the initial investigation that they did not find any evidence of any conspiracy or murder. That is, at present it has not been considered a criminal case.
