A new controversy has started regarding a dance scene of Bollywood actress Ananya Pandey’s new film ‘Chand Mera Dil’. In this college romance drama film, actor Lakshya is in the lead role opposite Ananya Pandey. Ever since the release of the film, a clip of one of its dance scenes is going viral on X (Twitter) and Instagram. In this scene, Ananya’s character performs a fusion of Bharatnatyam and modern dance steps. Social media users are trolling Ananya Pandey regarding this performance. Congress spokesperson expressed objection to this dance scene. Reactions have also come from the world of politics and art. Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammed wrote on social media platform X that Ananya Pandey has destroyed my favorite dance form Bharatnatyam. Shama, who has learned Bharatnatyam since childhood, further wrote that this classical dance takes a long time to learn, it cannot be prepared for anyone instantly. Please do not insult the beautiful art like Bharatnatyam. Along with this, famous classical dancer Anita Ratnam also commented that after seeing this performance, it seems as if Bharatnatyam has been taken hostage. Choreographer defends Ananya Pandey In this matter, no official statement has yet come from the film team from Ananya Pandey or director Vivek Soni. However, the film’s assistant choreographer Ananya Kurup has shared a post on social media in defense of the actress. While sharing the screenshot of the Behind the Scenes (BTS) video and credit roll of the film, he wrote that the experience of working with Ananya Pandey was very good. She has worked hard to learn Bharatnatyam and has given an excellent performance in the film ‘Chand Mera Dil’. Many fans are also supporting Ananya by saying that it was not a traditional dance but just a fusion routine.
