Two days after taking oath as Deputy CM of Maharashtra for the sixth time, the order to release the seized benami property of Ajit Pawar came.

According to media reports, Delhi’s Income Tax Department Tribunal has freed Pawar’s assets worth more than Rs 1,000 crore.

The IT Department had seized these properties during the raid on 7 October 2021. It also has properties of Ajit’s wife Sunetra Pawar and son Parth Pawar.

While giving the order to free the properties, the Tribunal said – The IT Department has not been able to present evidence of any illegal manipulation of the properties. The matter of benami transactions has also not been clarified. All transactions have been done through the banking system.

The properties were not directly registered in the name of Ajit Pawar.

According to media reports, the tribunal had already clarified its stand, but on November 5, 2024, the IT department again filed a petition and appealed for reconsideration. The court has also rejected IT’s review appeal.

The IT department had searched the houses and offices of Ajit Pawar and his close relatives in Mumbai under the Prevention of Benami Assets Act. According to media reports, not all the properties were directly registered in the name of Ajit Pawar.

More than 30 properties were seized

  1. Jarandeshwar Sugar Factory with market value of more than Rs 400 crore.
  2. Flat worth Rs 20 crore located in South Delhi.
  3. Parth Pawar’s Nirmal office. Its price was Rs 25 crores.
  4. ‘Rs 250 crore ‘Nilaya’ resort in Goa.
  5. Land in 27 different places of Maharashtra including Pune, Mumbai.

Ajit Pawar’s net worth is Rs 124 crore

  • In the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission during the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Ajit Pawar had declared his net worth as Rs 124 crore.
  • Ajit had told that the total cash with his family is Rs 14.12 lakh. At the same time, an amount of more than Rs 6.81 crore is deposited in the accounts of various banks.
  • Ajit Pawar has 3 trailers, Toyota Camry, Honda CRV and a tractor. The price of all this is around Rs 75 lakh. Whereas wife Sunetra Pawar has a car worth Rs 10 lakh.
