Sandipan Garg, cousin of late singer Zubeen Garg and an Assam Police Service officer, has been arrested by the SIT of Assam’s CID in connection with Zubeen’s death in Singapore.

Sandipan Garg, cousin of late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who had accompanied Zubeen to Singapore, has been arrested in connection with the singer’s death.
According to the details, Sandipan Garg serves as Superintendent of Police (In-Charge) with the Assam Police Service (APS).
He was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Zubeen Garg had passed away on September 19, 2025, during a cultural festival in Singapore. Sandipan was reportedly present at the time of Zubeen’s death.
Further details regarding charges and investigation updates were awaited.

Four persons, including Zubeen’s manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, Singer Amritprava Mahanta and North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, had earlier been arrested and are currently in police custody.
On Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said barring one, seven others present with singer Zubeen Garg during his last moments in Singapore were yet to respond to the CID summons.
Sarma said Rupkamal Kalita, who was present on the yacht when Garg died while swimming in the sea on September 19, had responded to the summons of the SIT probing into his death.
However, the seven others have not said anything about coming to Assam to help in the investigation, Sarma said at a media briefing in Guwahati.
The CID had issued summons to eight out of the 11 people who were on the yacht with the singer when the incident happened.
Earlier, one of Zubeen Garg’s band members, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, had alleged that the singer was poisoned by his manager Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta.
Sharma was heard shouting ‘Jabo de, jabo de‘ (let him go, let him go) when Garg was gasping for breath, almost drowning in the sea off Singapore, the accompanying drummer said in the ‘Detailed Grounds of Arrest’ or remand note of the singer’s manager.
According to the highly sensitive document, accessed by news agency PTI, Goswami also claimed that there was a “conspiracy” to portray Garg’s death as an accident.
