Gujarat Giants achieved their fourth win in the fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The team defeated Delhi Capitals in a close match by 3 runs in Vadodara on Tuesday. With this the team also reached second position in the points table. Beth Mooney from Gujarat scored a fifty. Sophie Divine took 4 wickets and Rajeshwari Gaikwad took 3 wickets. Gujarat disintegrated after a strong start. Delhi chose bowling at the Kotambi Stadium. Gujarat definitely lost the first wicket in the third over, but Beth Mooney and Anushka Sharma took the team under control. Both of them made fifty partnerships. Anushka was out after scoring 39 runs on 25 balls. After his wicket the team started disintegrating. Mooney remained at one end, she also scored a fifty, but captain Ashley Gardner was out after scoring 2 runs. Shefali Verma was out after scoring 14 runs, Lizelle Lee 11, Laura Wolvaart 24, Jemimah Rodriguez 16 and Shinelle Henry 9 runs. Marijan could not even open a CAP account. The team lost 6 wickets for 100 runs. Nikki Prasad showed fight with Sneh Rana in the end, but she too could not lead the team to victory. Nikki scored 47 runs and Sneh scored 29 runs. Bengaluru is at number one with 10 points and has also made it to the playoffs. Delhi is at fourth position with 6 points and UP is at last position with 4 points. Both the teams will face each other on February 1.
