India made history at World Para Athletics Championships 2025 with 22 medals (Instagram)

India recorded their best-ever performance at the World Para Athletics Championships, held in New Delhi. Competing on home soil at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from September 27 to October 5, 2025, the Indian team delivered a historic showing, securing a total of 22 medals – six gold, nine silver and seven bronze – finishing 10th on the medals table.

Among the standout performers were Simran Sharma (women’s 100m T12), Nishad Kumar (men’s high jump T47), Sumit Antil (men’s javelin throw F64), Sandip Sanjay Sargar (men’s javelin throw F44), Rinku Hooda (men’s javelin throw F46), and Shailesh Kumar (men’s high jump T63), all of whom clinched gold medals in their respective events.

Both Simran Sharma and Preeti Pal emerged as double medallists for India — Simran winning medals in the women’s 100m T12 and 200m T12 events, and Preeti securing podium finishes in the women’s 100m T35 and 200m T35 categories.
