In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old woman died by suicide in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district just six months into her marriage, leaving behind a heartbreaking note that accused her husband and her in-laws of constant harassment.
The victim, identified as Srividya, had been working at a private college as a lecturer and married Rambabu, a village surveyor, around six months ago, reported India Today.
In the note addressed to her brother, Srividya alleged that Rambabu began torturing her after one month of their marriage. Every night, he used to come drunk and beat Vidya.
She further mentioned that he once demeaned her in front of another woman, calling her “worthless,” and described instances of physical violence, including being punched and having her head slammed against a bed, the report added.
The relentless torture and harassment reportedly became unbearable for Srividya, leading her to take the drastic step.
The victim held her husband and his family responsible for her condition, and urged in her note that they “should not be spared under any circumstances.”
In her final message to her brother ahead of Rakshabandhan, she wrote, “Hey brother, take care. I may not be able to tie you a Rakhi this time.”
