1. Indian economy grew faster than RBI’s estimate: GDP growth in the first quarter was 7.8%; Impact of growth in IT-real estate sectors

Despite rising inflation due to ongoing tensions in West Asia, India’s economy remained stronger than RBI’s estimates. GDP stood at 7.8% in the first quarter of this year i.e. April-June. RBI’s estimate was 7%. It had grown at the rate of 6.9% in the same quarter a year ago.
Finance, real estate, IT and professional services sectors witnessed a growth of more than 12%. Due to this, inflation did not affect GDP growth. These figures were released by the Statistics Department of the Central Government on Monday.

Fintech company PhonePe has started a new payment service for feature phone users from today. The company has launched ‘PhonePe UPI 123Pay’ feature, through which UPI transactions can be done without internet connection. Besides, help will also be available from AI voice assistance in 12 languages.
With this, PhonePe has become the first major third-party application provider in the country to launch this digital payment service for feature phone users.

A new pattern of making people victims of fraud through advertisements on social media has emerged. The National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit (NCTAU), the cyber wing of the Home Ministry, has issued an advisory.
The investigating agency has found that fraudsters are emptying people’s bank accounts by running advertisements of porn apps on Facebook and Instagram. The government has asked to remain alert regarding this fraud targeting smartphone users.
