Recently, a hospital nurse took to social media to share insights into these postmortem transformations.
According to the Daily Star News website, Julie McFadden is known online as Hospice Nurse Julie. McFadden is not just another nurse and cares for terminally ill patients at her hospital. She uses social media to share insights into their experiences, detailing physical changes and the challenges they face.
In a recent videoMcFadden outlined the physical changes that occur in the body after death. She explained that the body becomes so relaxed that fluids, previously held in by muscles and organs, are released. This release can cause fluids to emerge from the eyes, nose, and ears. Additionally, urine or faeces may be expelled as soon as death occurs.
Julie explained that body temperature plummets quickly after death, and gravity pulls the blood downwards, causing discolouration in the lower extremities. The body also starts stiffening within one to two hours, gradually increasing before dissipating after 24 to 30 hours. She acknowledged that while not universally occurring, the deceased’s body often relaxes to the point where bodily fluids may be expelled.
Julie emphasised that her intention in sharing this information is to prepare relatives for the potential realities of encountering a deceased loved one so that they do not get shocked. She intends to present the changes occurring in a human body after death in a clear and easy manner.
