Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) marked its third foundation day on Thursday, reaffirming its demand for public rights, dignity, accountability and justice while remembering those who lost their lives during the movement.
The JKJAAC was formed in Muzaffarabad on September 17, 2023, as a united, people-led platform focused on public rights and accountability.
On its third foundation day, the committee said it stands in solidarity with activists who were injured, arrested or detained during the movement, while also recognising the hardships faced by their families.
The JKJAAC has called for accountability over deaths and injuries, medical access for those wounded and legal safeguards for detainees. The committee also reiterated its opposition to what it described as atrocities by the Pakistan military and vowed to continue its campaign for public rights.
“We remember those who lost their lives during the movement and stand with those who were injured, arrested or detained,” the committee said.
The organisation also acknowledged the contribution of traders, workers, students, women, lawyers, volunteers and other community members who, it said, have participated in the movement over the past three years.
The JKJAAC said its commitment remains focused on public rights, dignity, accountability and justice for those affected, along with the full implementation of agreements and commitments made with the people.
On its third foundation day, the committee said it was remembering the “martyrs”, standing with the injured and detained, and honouring families it said had made sacrifices for the movement.
