Bhopal. Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar has made a big revelation in a special conversation with NDTV regarding the direction in which the SIT investigation is going in the Twisha Sharma death case. According to the police, the evidence so far and the post-mortem report are clearly calling this case a suicide and not murder.
The Police Commissioner said that based on the post-mortem report and other circumstantial evidence, it is a case of “antemortem hanging”, that is, death occurred due to hanging and it is a suicide case. However, the family of deceased Twisha Sharma has raised questions on this and called it murder. The family alleges that Twisha was mentally and physically tortured, due to which she died.
Giving clarification on the allegations of delay in FIR and pressure from influential family, the Police Commissioner said that in cases like dowry death, preliminary investigation is necessary, only after which FIR is registered. He claimed that compared to similar cases, FIR was registered in this case very quickly.
Controversy has also emerged regarding the second post-mortem. On this the police clarified that they are not the authority to give permission in this matter. If the family wants post-mortem again, they will have to approach the court. The police said it had no objection to the second post-mortem and the family’s request has been included in the case diary.
Meanwhile, a big issue arose regarding not sending the belt to the hospital on time during the post-mortem. Police considered it to be negligence and said that the FSL team had seized the belt, but it could not reach the doctors in time. Later it was sent and the report is ready. Police say that this had no impact on the investigation.
The police also clarified the situation on the allegations of drug use. The commissioner said that there is no mention of drugs in the post-mortem report and no such evidence has been found in the investigation. At the same time, the family is still adamant on demanding justice and is refusing to perform the last rites. AIIMS Bhopal has also talked about the limitations in preserving the body for a long time. Police say that they can talk to the family, but the final decision will be taken by the family only. At present, SIT investigation is going on in this case and the police say that the investigation is completely impartial and is progressing on the basis of facts.
