SC on Stray Dogs: The Supreme Court has today given a big and strict verdict on stray dogs. The court has ordered all states and union territories to remove stray dogs from public places like schools, colleges, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands and railway stations, sterilize them and release them at some other safe place. Along with this, the court has directed that government and private hospitals should keep adequate stock of anti-rabies vaccine and a helpline number should be issued for information about animals roaming on the highway. The Supreme Court has also sought a report on the steps taken in eight weeks. During the hearing, the court also referred to an NDTV report which showed how stray dogs were causing trouble to foreign tourists.
