The religious dispute arising over an ancient fort in Kasmandi Kala area of Malihabad, Lucknow has now deepened. In view of the increasing tension in the area, the administration has completely banned the upcoming Bakrid prayers and any kind of religious activity as a precautionary measure.
This controversy increased further when the Pasi community announced to recite Sunderkand at this disputed site. On the other hand, a mosque and a tomb already exist here, where prayers have been offered. The Pasi community strongly claims that this building is a part of the ancient fort of Maharaja Kansa Pasi. According to him, the ‘fun’ made in the shapes of the building are symbols of their Nagvanshi tradition.
According to information received from the ground, the entire area has been converted into a cantonment. Heavy deployment of police and PAC has been made. Security forces have tear gas shells and safety gear to deal with any untoward situation. The police have barricaded the roads and every person coming and going is being monitored.
In view of the tense atmosphere, the police has not given permission for Sunderkand recitation. The administration clearly says that to maintain peace, there will be a ban on all religious activities for the time being. Despite the scorching heat, policemen are ready on the spot and people are being appealed to maintain peace.
