Navi Mumbai International Airport begins operations today, marking a major expansion of Mumbai’s aviation capacity. In Phase One, the airport will handle 15 departures and 23 daily flights with 12-hour operations in the first month. Airlines including IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Star Air will connect nine domestic destinations, easing pressure on the near-capacity CSMIA and boosting connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
