Today in Varanasi, the grand festival of Dev Diwali is being celebrated with great pomp and faith. This year, about 11 lakh lamps were lit at 84 ghats of Kashi. Dev Diwali i.e. Diwali of Gods is celebrated on the day of Kartik Purnima. The ghats of Banaras are decorated with lamps on this day. It is believed that Lord Shiva had killed the demon named Tripurasura on this day and hence Dev Diwali is celebrated on this day.
