The petition of actor Rajpal Yadav, who is facing punishment in seven check bounce cases, was heard in the Supreme Court. A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana heard the case. During the hearing, it was told on behalf of Rajpal Yadav that an amount of Rs 1 crore 15 lakh has been arranged under the condition of depositing Rs 2 crore. At the same time, a land buyer has been cited for depositing the remaining Rs 85 lakh.
This controversy started about 16 years ago. In the year 2010, Rajpal Yadav as a director had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Private Limited to make his film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’. The film was released in the year 2012 but was not successful at the box office. After the flop of the film, it became difficult for Rajpal Yadav to return the loan amount. As time passed, interest and other amounts kept getting added and the dispute reached about Rs 9 crore.
