US Vice President JD Vance has sent a letter to Iran’s security chief in a fresh attempt to revive peace talks and prevent a possible new American military offensive, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

The letter was sent to Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, at the direction of US President Donald Trump, according to a source cited by the newspaper.

The communication, along with subsequent exchanges between US and Iranian officials, focused on establishing a framework for negotiations rather than setting out the details of a peace agreement, the report said.
