When asked about his experience at the Taj Mahal, Rubio described it as “beautiful.”
The Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, continues to attract high-profile global leaders and dignitaries visiting India. Last year in April, US Vice President JD Vance visited the monument along with his wife, Usha Vance and their children Vivek, Mirabel and Ewan.
Taj Mahal is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, combining Persian, Indian and Islamic design elements. In 1983, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and described as “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.”
Next Destination- Jaipur
After Agra, Rubio would visit Jaipur. He will land at Jaipur International Airport today at around 2 PM. During his short visit, he will experience Rajasthan’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari will receive him at the airport.
During his visit, Rubio will tour some of Jaipur’s famous tourist attractions, including Amer Fort and City Palace. He will receive a traditional Rajasthani welcome at Jaleb Chowk in Amer Fort. Rubio will also visit Elephant Village to observe its activities. To maintain security and proper arrangements, Amer Fort will remain closed to tourists from 1 PM to 5 PM on Monday.
Rubio’s Visit To India
During the first two days of his visit, Rubio held a series of high-level discussions in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar. The top aide to US President Donald Trump is expected to return to the national capital for the crucial Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting before wrapping up his India tour on May 26, 2026.
Following his talks with Jaishankar on Sunday, Rubio said that ties between the two countries continue to remain strong.
“India-US relations have not lost momentum … India-US relations will come out much stronger in the coming years,” Rubio said.
He began his visit to India from the Missionaries of Charity at Kolkata, followed by meeting PM Modi and then later holding delegation-level talks with Jaishankar. Rubio also held discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
