Carlos Alcaraz romped his way to the US Open 2025 men’s singles title on Monday with his dominant win over Jannik Sinner in an encounter that required four sets to be decided.
Alcaraz posted a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Sinner at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to clinch his sixth Grand Slam title and climb to the top spot in the World Rankings with the win.
The two promising youngsters split the Grand Slam titles for the year among them for the second time on the trot as Alcaraz secured the crown at Flushing Meadows to go with the French Open title he won at Roland Garros over Sinner earlier in the year. The Italian took home the Australian Open and the Wimbledon titles this season.
Alcaraz started the game strong as he broke Sinner in the opening game of the fixture and went on to post a 6-2 win in the first set as he broke the Italian twice over in the first set. Sinner, however, clawed his way back into the game in the second set as he broke the Spaniard to restore parity.
Alcaraz hit back with his authoritative spell in the third set as he routed last year’s winner 6-1, as Sinner saved face and himself the embarrassment of a bagel with as he held serve in the sixth game of the set before Alcaraz closed out the set on serve.
