US-Israel-Iran War News Today Live Updates: US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran has only about 21-22 percent of its missile arsenal remaining, offering a fresh assessment of Tehran’s military capabilities amid continuing tensions across the Gulf region.
Speaking to NBC News, Trump said Iran still retains the ability to launch missiles and drones despite weeks of military exchanges and a ceasefire that has struggled to hold. His latest estimate is slightly higher than the 18 percent figure he cited in May, though he maintained that Iran’s military capacity has been significantly degraded.
Trump’s remarks came as a series of security incidents underscored the fragile state of regional stability.
In Kuwait, the military announced early Saturday that air defence systems had been activated in response to what it described as hostile missile and drone attacks. Authorities said explosions heard in parts of the country were linked to interception operations carried out by Kuwaiti forces. The military did not immediately identify the source of the attacks. The development follows a recent strike on Kuwait International Airport that killed one person and injured dozens, raising concerns over the widening impact of the conflict.
At the same time, the United States military said it had carried out strikes against Iranian radar installations along the country’s southern coast. According to US Central Command, American forces intercepted four Iranian one-way attack drones that were allegedly heading toward the Strait of Hormuz before targeting surveillance radar facilities in Goruk and on Qeshm Island. Washington said the action was aimed at protecting maritime traffic and preventing further attacks.
Iran, however, offered a competing narrative. Tehran’s military claimed it fired warning missiles at two US destroyers operating in the Gulf of Oman, alleging the vessels were engaged in provocative activities. Iranian state media reported that the ships subsequently withdrew from the area.
The US military swiftly rejected the claim, insisting no American warships were fired upon and warning that such an action would constitute a serious violation of the ceasefire arrangement.
