US-Israel Iran War Ceasefire, Trump News Today Latest Updates: Nearly two-and-a-half months into the conflict in West Asia, attention has now shifted to high-level diplomacy between the United States and China. US President Donald Trump departed for Beijing on Tuesday afternoon for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying Iran and the ongoing war would be discussed during a “long talk” between the two leaders.
However, Trump pointed out that trade would remain the main focus of the visit. Speaking before leaving the White House, he said he did not believe the United States needed China’s help regarding Iran. “We’ll win it one way or the other, peacefully or otherwise,” Trump told reporters.
US-Israel-Iran ceasefire under pressure
The latest developments come amid uncertainty over the future of the ceasefire linked to the Iran conflict. Some aides to Trump reportedly believe the president is now more seriously considering the possibility of resuming combat operations.
As per reports, Trump’s current approach appears to suggest that the ceasefire would continue only “until he says so”.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei described the US-Israel war on Iran as a fight between “a proud people” and “professional liars”.
Rising war cost
The conflict continues to affect the wider region. Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that two paramedics were killed and another injured in an Israeli strike targeting emergency workers in southern Lebanon.
The economic impact is also growing. The US war against Iran has now reportedly cost $29 billion, higher than the Pentagon’s earlier estimate of $25 billion given to Congress two weeks ago.
Americans are also facing rising fuel costs. The Energy Department has raised its forecast for average petrol prices this year from $3.70 to $3.88 per gallon.
